Rose Water Toner
I love crafting my own skincare products, it gives me peace of mind knowing I’m avoiding harsh chemicals and treating my skin with natural ingredients. Along with the Aloe Vera Face Spray, my other favorite creation is this rose water face mist, which works beautifully as a facial toner and a pick me up spritz throughout the day.
There’s something about the scent of rose water that feels effortlessly feminine and calming. I often add it to my bath for soft, refreshed skin, and the fragrance alone helps me unwind. While rose water is wonderful on its own, I wanted to take it a step further, so I’ve enhanced it with a few additional ingredients to boost hydration and moisturization.
Since it’s a small batch, I like to mix the ingredients directly in a glass measuring cup.
Ingredients for Rose Water Face Mist
- 3 tablespoons rose water
- 8 drops vegetable glycerin
- 1/2 teaspoon evening primrose oil
- 10 drops polysorbate 20
- 10 drops hyaluronic acid
- 4 drops rosehip seed oil (optional)
Mix all the ingredients together, then transfer the mixture to a small spray bottle.
How to Use Face Mist
Be sure to close your eyes before misting your face. I use this facial spray after washing my face, both morning and night, as a pre-moisturizer toner. Throughout the day, I’ll also mist my face whenever my skin feels like it needs a refreshing boost.
This spray can be stored at room temperature, but I like to keep mine in the refrigerator, especially during the summer months. The cool mist feels heavenly on hot days!
Key Ingredients: Breakdown
Vegetable Glycerin
This ingredient locks in moisture and acts as a natural emollient, leaving your skin soft and hydrated. It also has a cooling effect, but be cautious not to overuse it - too much can leave a slightly sticky feeling until it fully absorbs.
Hyaluronic Acid
A powerhouse ingredient for hydration, hyaluronic acid is a humectant that helps the skin retain moisture, making it appear plumper and more youthful. Since we lose hyaluronic acid as we age, adding it to your skincare routine can help restore and maintain hydration.
Polysorbate 20
This emulsifier helps to blend oil and water-based ingredients that wouldn’t normally mix, ensuring the spray stays well combined. It keeps the rose water and oils smoothly integrated for an even spritz every time.
Rosehip Seed Oil
Rosehip seed oil is a lightweight, fast-absorbing oil that hydrates the skin without leaving any greasy residue. High in essential fatty acids, it helps reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture. I sometimes apply it on its own after long days in the sun, as it penetrates the skin quickly.
Evening Primrose Oil
Rich in gamma-linolenic acid (an essential fatty acid), evening primrose oil helps to rejuvenate and deeply hydrate the skin. It’s known for keeping skin looking fresh, radiant, and healthy.
This rose water spritzer is an easy and effective way to pamper your skin naturally plus, it smells amazing! I hope you like it like I do.
